In a world of increasing environmental threats and biodiversity loss, modern zoos have an important role to play in conservation. Capitalising on the expertise in maintaining a myriad of living animals from around the world, and strong global networking and resources, zoos play an important role in co-ordinated breeding programmes and maintenance of healthy captive populations, wildlife rescue efforts, captive research, training and capacity building, as well as support for species and habitat conservation in the wild.
At all WRS parks, we achieve our conservation aims through:
- Breeding programmes and captive management
- Wildlife rescue and healthcare
- Conservation projects and partnerships
